Have you ever felt unworthy to achieve your dreams? Have you ever set limits to what you can accomplished ? Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.
The things we want are always possible; it is just that the way to get them is not always obvious and easy. If things come easy to us, every single person will get what they want without working hard for it. The only real barrier in your path to a fulfilling life is us, and that can be a considerable barrier because we carry the baggage of insecurities and past experience.
Recently, I read from the publisher of SUCCESS magazine and mentor to High- performance Entrepreneurs, Darren Hardy about acting on your dreams and this is what I would like to share with you.
Darren shared that someone once explained life to him this way:
“The moment you are born a fuse is lit.
Then every day, every hour, every second that goes by that fuse is burning down.
No one knows how long their fuse is, but what we do know is that it’s constantly burning down, even as you sleep. Your life is essentially a ticking time bomb.”
Thinking about that fuse burning down instills a great sense of urgency to get the most out of every day. Every day, every hour seems more important and precious when you know when life and that fuse is burning down. You stop putting off for tomorrow, Monday or next year.
It instills a do it now, experience it now, and go for it now decision-making mindset.
In reality, most people just coast through their life.
Day after day, week after week, months after months and one year rolls into the next.
Mr Hardy added “They are just drifting along.
Then they wake up one day and they are 50, 60 or 80 years old.
They look back and wonder where all the time went.
They never got around to doing, trying or experiencing the things they always wanted to, wished for and dreamed about.
But then it’s too late.
They are only left with regret.
Their fuse runs out and… boom, it’s over.
Like it or not, the moment you were born you started to die.
Your time here is limited… so limited.
Your fuse is burning down.
Don’t put off your wishes, hopes, dreams and ambitions any longer.
NOW is the time to set them into motion.
There’s no tomorrow, there is only today.”
American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, Jim Rohn shared with us that in order to live our dreams we need to ….
“Remember this: To make progress you must actually get started.
The key is to take a step today. Whatever the project, start TODAY. Start clearing out a drawer of your newly organized desk… today. Start setting your first goal… today. Start listening to motivational cassettes… today. Start a sensible weight-reduction plan… today. Start calling on one tough customer a day… today. Start putting money in your new “investment for fortune” account… today. Write a long-overdue letter… today. Anyone can! Even an uninspired person can start reading inspiring books.
Get some momentum going on your new commitment for the good life. See how many activities you can pile on your new commitment to the better life. Go all out! Break away from the downward pull of gravity. Start your thrusters going. Prove to yourself that the waiting is over and the hoping is past—that faith and action have now taken charge.
It’s a new day, a new beginning for your new life. With discipline you will be amazed at how much progress you’ll be able to make. What have you got to lose except the guilt and fear of the past? “
Now, today is the best time to take action and take up this challenge: See how many things you can start and continue in this— Let today be the first day of your new beginning.
