Scott Dinsmore was not exactly my biggest mentor as I have only found his community Live Your Legend slightly over a year.
Nonetheless, just like my other long time amazing mentors that I had the privilege of learning from, Scott was truly an amazing person.
Scott passed away on 13th September while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. He was struck in the head by a boulder as it tumbled down. According to his family, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was Scott’s lifelong dream.
“He lived more in his short 33 years than most do in a lifetime.” – William Dinsmore (Scott’s father)
Scott was an adventurous, fearless and amazingly passionate person who believed that we all should do work that we are truly passionate about and live life that matters. He died living his dreams and ultimately it is all that matters. He did not die empty, he died having fulfilled many of his biggest, boldest dreams doing what he loves.
Life offers us boundless opportunities, not many are able to see the abundant life has to offer because some people are trapped in their comfort zone, while others choose to follow the path that society expect them to take. While we are busy running around meeting other’s expectations, we fail to notice the purpose and destiny that we are meant to fulfill.
“We are not meant to do things the way they have always been done. We are meant to find and follow our own paths. This leads to greatness. We deserve to spend our time on things that actually matter to us” -Scott Dinsmore

Extraordinary things are meant to happen when our passion goes beyond our fear, but it takes massive effort and perseverance to make the transition from an ordinary normal life to living an extraordinary beautiful life. On hindsight, is there anything more worthy to pursue than in breaking free – to know on your last breath that you lived a life of meaning and fulfillment?
If you do not like what you are currently doing, then you have to do things differently. Change is required. Look at change as a purification process. We need to clear out the old ways that do not serve us anymore so that new experiences can come in.
Regardless of what other people think or say, regardless of whether it’s interesting to other people, just run your own race. Life is a blink and you do not want to get to your end and realise that you never were in the game and that you never really chase your passions and live with a sense of adventure.
Take calculated risk and be part of the game. When there is no risk, there will be no reward. Live a passionate life and passion is all about doing what you love to do and do what makes your heart filled with joy and excitements.
