Two Simple Key Ideas to Your Dream Discovery

A friend of mine recently posted this quote by Zig Ziglar ” Go as far as you can see: When you get there you’ll see further. My friend added , ” A lot of people want to know all the details before taking a step. And guess what ? They are still at the starting line while others already took tens or even hundreds of steps!

How true and wise I thought to myself. My friend’s message and reminder came at the right moment. I was contemplating about starting a project for many months but what’s stopping me is not that I do not have enough time or resources but the thought of wanting the project to be perfect, even though I had enough information, revenue and resources to start the project, I didnt think my idea is good enough. I was looking for gaps that gave me reasons not to start. Big Mistake! Few months down the road, I found out that someone had implemented a similar idea that I was thinking about and had great success !

What’s my point ? My point is we need to remember that every brilliant idea was 1st considered crazy before it was revered. Being to sell yourself on your vision and your goals. Write them down onto papers, review them, act on it so they become real. Do this long enough and you will start to believe them at the deepest level. Self belief is a catalyst for spectacular achievement. And until you personally believe you can achieve a result, you won’t even start the process to deliver on that promises.

From time to time, our dreams, goals and beliefs may also faced with critics, which could be from our family members, friends or loved ones. We need to start thinking for ourselves versus buying into the definition of success and achievement that society has sold us as a way to happiness and a life of meaning. We all need to live by the personal values that feel right to ourselves. That we pursue our own interests and dreams, regardless if they draw rings of criticism or mockery from the chattering cynics around. In reality, we need to learn that to have the results of very few people have, we must begin to live as very few do.

In conclusion, two simple key ideas that I would like to share. First idea, if you have an interest and dreams that you would like to pursue, then just start wherever you are, stop thinking and waiting for everything to be perfect before you take action. Believe that if you have that dream in your heart, you have what it takes to make things happen. I have learnt that it is better to create your own opportunities then to wait for opportunities to fall on your lap. Do the work that needs to be done, regardless of how long the process might take, if you are persistent and determine, opportunities will eventually present itself.
Take the first step. Confucius once said: ” A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.I am reminded by a quote from leadership author, Robin Sharma ” Every expert was once an amateur, and every master was once a beginner.”

Second idea, break free from the critics and naysayers. Dare to take calculated risk, pursue what God has put in your heart, if you succeed in your endeavour you will be happy and fulfilled and if you do not succeed you will gain meaningful experience and growth, either way you will achieve something of great value.

Mark Twain summed it well: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines and sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.”
